The Compendium / report references and summarizes the insurance regulation of all 20 FIDES member countries (all of Latin America, plus Spain and the United States), divide in 8 thematic pillars in a question-and-answer format, comprising 583 unique legal instruments — each with a direct hyperlink to the official source.
What changed since the 2024 edition: (Most relevant topics)
- Brazil’s new comprehensive insurance law, plus reforms and updates in markets including Spain and Panama.
- IFRS 17 — the compendium now tracks, country by country, who has adopted the standard (Colombia, Costa Rica, Panama, Peru), who is still assessing it (Brazil, Chile), and who does not require it (Argentina, Spain, Mexico, Uruguay).
Strengthened coverage of technology and governance, including technology-core standards for insurer operations. - A full refresh of licensing, supervision, market conduct, distribution, and special-products regulation.
What’s new: a brand-new AML/CFT/CPF pillar. For the first time, the Compendium includes a dedicated section on the prevention of money laundering, terrorist financing and proliferation financing (AML/CFT/CPF) across all 20 jurisdictions — developed in 6 points per country:
- Applicable AML/CFT/CPF regulation for the insurance industry.
- Supervisory AML authority for each country (and its coordination with the insurance regulator).
